Brisbane is a small city in Queensland, located along the banks of the River Brisbane. It is a history enthusiast’s paradise, as it is home to a wealth of colonial buildings and relics. However, even if historical buildings don’t interest you, there are lots of other fantastic attractions in this city which you’re bound to enjoy.

Brisbane City Botanic Gardens are just a short walk from the city centre. Away Holidays clients note that this is the ideal place to spend a few hours on a sunny afternoon, as the setting is beautiful. You can rent some bikes and cycle along the garden’s pathways, or alternatively, you can take a relaxing stroll. The area is open twenty four hours a day, but if you would prefer a guided tour, this service is only available between 11am and 1pm each day. The tour will provide you with some insight into the history of the gardens, and tell you a bit about each of the exotic flower and plant species that are found here.

The Story Bridge is one of the city’s most popular landmarks; it is over seven hundred metres long, and stretches across the above-mentioned River Brisbane. Constructed during the 1930s, it has undergone quite a bit of restoration in recent years, and now has a total of three lanes, as well as a pedestrian walkway. If you want some amazing views of the downtown area of the city, it’s certainly worth taking a stroll to this bridge.
